Brooklyn Optics

Industrial Film Studios in Williamsburg Brooklyn

Brooklyn Optics

SHOOT WHERE HISTORY LIVES

  • Welcome to where Brooklyn’s gritty past meets creative production.

  • From the 1930s through the 1980s, this industrial space was a magnet for controversy and resilience, earning a spot in Brooklyn’s urban folklore.

  • Our building has lived many lives: from the Depression era food fraud scandals to fires and a legendary rat infestation.

  • Today, we’ve transformed this storied location into a versatile production studio: Brooklyn Optics. With vintage props, curated sets, rooftop gardens, and authentic industrial architecture, our space is tailor-made for filmmakers and photographers seeking atmosphere with attitude.

Explore The Spaces

  • Industrial Loft

Our Industrial Loftspaceis 2000 sq feet, featuring high ceilings, 100-year-old blistered concrete, distressed brick walls, and full remote parabolic softbox overhead bi-light studio light which come with the space.

The space has been utilized for its soundproof qualities, such as interviews, live music recordings, and audio filming.

  • Loading Dock

This is a car friendly double truck entrance with a loading dock garage in a 1920s industrial building. Featuring steel gates, vintage props, RBG-bi lighting, and historic charm, our Loading Dock is a raw space that adds to any project.

We’ve hosted some impressive music videos, short films, interviews, fashion editorials, and dance performances.

  • Library

Our Vintage Library space boasts high ceilings, park views, soundproof windows, and adjustable lighting. Adding to its unique character are 100-year-old work objects that tell stories of labor through their worn surfaces—blistered paint, burn marks, and saw cuts. The centerpiece of the space is our custom conference table; a proud symbol of craftsmanship.

This space is perfect for interviews, music videos, and sound recording.

  • Workshop

Our active woodworking shop is capable of welding, plasma cutting, industrial sewing. There are multiple work tables, and shelves filled with vintage tools and materials. Designed as a commercial shop, it's currently a space where I volunteer to teach young people valuable trades and hands-on skills.

When it’s not in use, the soundproof workshop becomes a compelling set; great for rugged interviews and storytelling.

  • Vintage Office Set

    Vintage Office Set

Located on the first floor, our new Vintage office set is a turnkey solution for storytelling and interviews. Fully dressed with authentic vintage office materials, steel desks, and government issued chairs.

We have a wide array of props; lending to detectives, law enforcement, medical scenes, and journalism.

  • Garden

Our Rooftop Garden features unique planters, quiet park neighborhood views, and luscious greenery on a 100-year-old blistered concrete factory. Our upper vistas are accessible and perfect for viewing the main garden space from above. This is your outdoor oasis for both day and night production, assessable via fright elevator.

  • Stairwell & Elevator

Welcome to the four story stairwell, stainless steel 1940s elevator, and wide industrial fire escape. These dynamic spaces offer perfect dynamic scenes; from running down the stairs, slamming the dramatic gate of the elevator, or taking a breath on the fire escape.

  • Bedroom & Kitchen

Above the spiral stairs with the library below we have a very unique hidden bed behind a Pecky Cypress wood wall. We have utilized this for production shoots that need a bedroom situation. We also have a kitchen and this directly leads out to the roof garden.
